Leslie Ullman
LESLIE ULLMAN’s latest book, Slow Work Through Sand, winner of the 1997 Iowa Poetry Prize, came out in 1998. Her first collection of poems, Natural Histories (Yale, ’78), won the Yale Series of Younger Poets Award. Her second collection, Dreams by No One’s Daughter (Univ. of Pittsburgh Press, ’87), was part of the Pitt Poetry Series. Her poems, reviews, and essays have appeared in numerous journals, including Poetry, The New Yorker, Prairie Schooner, The Writer’s Chronicle, and Kenyon Review, and she is the recipient of two NEA Fellowships. She is Professor Emerita at the Univ. of Texas-El Paso, where she taught for 27 years and established the Bilingual MFA Program. She has taught at Vermont College since 1981. She does freelance manuscript consultations and teaches skiing three months a year at Taos Ski Valley in northern New Mexico. More details can be found on her website: http://leslieullman.com/.
