Vermont College of Fine Arts will be hosting an outdoor film series this summer: “Movies on the Hill.” Eight free films will be shown on Friday evenings throughout the summer on the campus green, from July 10 to August 28.
“We wanted to bring the community together on our campus on warm summer evenings and share in our appreciation of the arts,” said Stacy Theberge, director of external affairs at Vermont College of Fine Arts. “Outdoor movies really are the perfect fit.”
The movies, which will be appropriate for all audiences, will be shown each Friday evening at dusk, around 8:30 pm, near the fountain on the green, with Saturdays as a back-up in case of rain. Moviegoers are encouraged to show up early with a picnic, the kids, a blanket, and chairs. Parking is limited, so those living in Montpelier should consider walking or carpooling to the college (near the corners of College Street and East State Street).
Vermont College of Fine Arts has hosted several community events since it bought the campus last June, including Celebration Weekend, Illumination Night, and several readings and gallery exhibitions.
“We are still deciding on the movie line-up,” said Theberge. “Stay tuned - the final selections will be announced in the weeks ahead.”
